Our GIS Map

GIS in our project:
Our group colected a large amount of data about the fruit trees in the Jefferson Park Neighborhood through interviews and surveying walks. The first thing we did was organizing the data into a Access database. We broke down the information related to the fruit trees (and gardens, or course) to many elementary pieces, such as location, types of trees, number of trees, etc. Then, the access tables were converted into ArcView shapefiles, creating a separate layer for each tree type. We ended up with 22 layers, which combined with the powerfull tools of the ArcView, could be analyzed in various ways.
